Sir William Walton (1902-83) is of one of Britains best-loved and most important 20th c. composers. His work covers several classical genres and styles, from film scores to opera. Recorded live at Londons Royal Festival Hall, in Waltons presence, the London Concert features three of Waltons most famous works: Coronation March: Orb and Sceptre, Concerto for Violin and Orchestra in B minor and Belshazzars Feast. André Previn conducts the Philharmonia Orchestra. Korean violinist Kyung-Wha Chung and one of the best lyric baritones of the late 20th c., Thomas Allen, also feature.
