The residents of Falls City, Nebraska are having disturbing dreams. They are dreaming they are meeting their long-dead loved ones. Every resident is dreaming this. And, they are aware of what is happening within their dreams. It seems they all work for a new particle collider built in the US that is much bigger than the LHC in CERN. Something goes wrong with the collider that seems to be causing everyone to dream. But, as soon as they begin to talk about it, a zealot running a cult in Idaho hears their story and begins to take steps to shut it all down.
